Years ago, on the streets of Meerut, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor chanced upon a yellow chilli amidst a plethora of green and red chillies. As food connoisseurs are aware, Meerut is the melting pot of unique chaats. The special yellow chilli spice mix the chaatwalas use here adds that extra zing and brings together a confluence of flavours, aroma and colour. With one bite of the yellow chilli, an idea was born. His restaurant, The Yellow Chilli came into being! While the first Yellow Chilli was launched in Ludhiana in 2001, it was paramount for Chef Sanjeev Kapoor and his team to bring his expertise to the city of Meerut which also produces the largest number of musical instruments and sports goods in India. The menu features his signature dishes – Shaam Savera (the first dish that Chef Sanjeev Kapoor created on Indian TV), Lalla Mussa Dal (the new age Kali Dal) or Gulab-e-Gulkand (gulab jamuns jazzed up with a gulkand filling) alongwith other cult Indian dishes that have been reinvented. One can also enjoy the super catering and banqueting services here, offering customised options for its guests.
